About SoloForge
SoloForge is the brain-fart of one regular guy - John. When I take a break from work (and from raising the two greatest kids on the planet), I am usually cranking on some game code. I have been writing games "on and off" since I was about 10. My first games were written on a TRS-80 and loaded from cassette tape. Damn that is old!
SoloForge is my attempt to spin a hobby into a business that will hopefully allow me to cease working for "the man" and do this fun stuff full time.

Baptism of Fire
For some history, here are some images from one of my very first games.

Admiral Sheffield gives you the lowdown on the next mission.
Choose your ship and weapons loadout wisely, you must.

This game was developed in C using EMS and Mode X. Mode X (320x200) ruled the DOS days for any game that required a good frame rate.
Purging the vile Skedge from the galaxy!

I developed Baptism of Fire on a 386 with 12M of RAM. A good amount of development time was spent optimizing code via "slugs", as there were no profilers back then.

Baptism of Fire was never finished. The advent of Windows 95 and Direct X required a total rewrite, which in turn required respinning the graphics from scratch to run at a higher resolution. Rest in peace, old friend!
